Paytrix are building the world’s first payments curation layer. By consolidating best in class payments infrastructure under our regulated ecosystem, we will enable marketplaces and eCommerce brands to scale their payments operations smoothly around the world.

We’ve just raised one of the largest pre-seed rounds in UK history from some of the world's leading FinTech focused Venture Capital firms (including the backers of Flywire, Pipe, Circle, GoCardless, Tide, Pave, and Stitch), and are supported by several well-known industry angel investors that have built multi-billion dollar businesses globally.

Our goal is to make the complex - simple, the messy - clean, and global scale accessible to every brand and platform. We’re looking to grow our founding team with a highly motivated back-end engineer to help build our platform.

The Role (what you will be doing):

We are looking for a relentlessly driven and intellectually curious individual to join our back-end team. Although your primary responsibility will be to focus on the back-end logic, you are most likely a full-stack technologist who spends time writing code, driving technical discussions/decisions and actively guiding architecture, tool choices and internal technical quality. We are deploying to K8S with ArgoCD on AWS but remain somewhat cloud agnostic as we are pursuing a multi-cloud strategy.

To be successful in this role, you:

  • Have a broad set of expertise and experience on various technical matters and in particular with designing, developing and deploying API-first cloud-native systems.

  • Are familiar with the 12 Factor App methodology and may even have formulated your own additional factors!

  • Are highly proficient in Java (language, data structures and algorithms), Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud, and have extensively used WebFlux or other reactive frameworks, alongside the usual cloud resilience patterns.

  • Can co-create an environment of psychological safety that enables team members to thrive. This is very important to us, as we are a highly diverse group made up of people from many different ethnicities, religious beliefs and gender identities.

  • Have some experience in Payments or a FinTech business.

The opportunity:

  • You will be working with a highly experienced and driven team where, alongside your day-to-day activities, you will learn the ins and outs of creating and growing a technology company.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to make important strategic decisions and shape the future of the business, and payments.
  • You will be working remotely, but getting together IRL at regular intervals to establish personal and meaningful relationships with your team and the rest of the company.

Benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)  / Matching Pension / Healthcare
  • Skin in the game via our company Options Scheme
  • 1st week off! We recognise that starting a new job can be stressful. That’s why we give all new employees an additional week's paid leave before they join - so that you can have some downtime, and take that holiday you’ve been putting off. Whatever you want to do with that time is up to you - but it’s on us, and doesn’t come out of your annual allowance.
