At Zoya, we're building software that helps the nearly two billion Muslims of the world align their faith with their finances. We're best known for pioneering free shariah compliance screening data that enables over 100k+ Muslim investors worldwide to build and monitor a halal investment portfolio with confidence and clarity.

Despite being such a large portion of the global population, the Muslim market has largely been neglected by conventional fintechs. We've launched a mobile app that allows users to screen stocks and help them ensure their investments are aligned with their values, but that's just the starting point. We're looking to launch features around portfolio management, trading/investing, zakat/charity, and other areas of personal finance this year.

We are a well-capitalized, VC-backed startup. Our team is 100% remote and comes with experience across the tech and finance landscape from companies such as Amazon, Bloomberg, and JPMorgan.

What we're looking for:

• You will help take end-to-end ownership of products. Requirements gathering, architectural design, implementation, testing, and operations are the responsibility of every engineer here
• Lead efforts including the build-out of new product features and development of reusable components
• Influence the features and direction of the product with your ideas
• Identify ways to improve our technology and process
• Lead by example and mentor future team members by providing technical and design guidance
• Naturally curious and willing to take a step to learn something you don’t have experience in
• Uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design
• You have good judgment of when to ship
• You care about details and are excited to keep pushing your work

Basic requirements

• 7+ years working as a full-time software engineer
• Strong command of NodeJS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and the behaviors of their runtimes
• An understanding of how to write performant software
• Proven track record of operating large-scale systems in production
• Comfort working remotely in an autonomous and mostly async environment

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with AWS services
• Familiarity with SQL, DynamoDB, and ElasticSearch
• Experience with React Native
• Experience with service-oriented architecture
• Experience with serverless designs
• Experience working in fintech
