PenChecks is an established financial services organization undergoing a transformation into a FinTech. We’re looking for a seasoned product leader who can evolve our product management practices and lead change management efforts to integrate the product management function across our appox. 100-person company.

The Senior Director of Product Management is responsible for developing the vision and setting the strategic direction of the product, which aligns with stakeholder needs and PenChecks’ overall business strategy. In this role, you will build, mentor, and manage the product team, including both product managers and designers, while nurturing a customer-driven product culture based on our core values of trust, dedication, innovation, and accountability.

Essential Duties

  • Translate company strategy and market and customer insight into effective product strategy that ensures desired company outcomes
  • Develop systems and processes that enable product team members to deliver consistent and clear product definitions and achieve desired business outcomes
  • Establish the body of research and insights for each major customer segment that provides a rudder for customer-driven decision making
  • Work with leadership to establish a durable competitive advantage driven by market and customer insight and woven into the product strategy and day to day product decision making.
  • Lead efforts to change and improve company practices which integrate product management.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure the success of products, and enhancements - ultimately identifying areas for improvement
  • Bring the Voice of the Customer into the organization to shape product management strategies and plans
  • Conduct performance management of direct reports, including hiring, on-boarding, 1:1s, annual assessments, compensation changes, and terminations.
  • Analyze, and propose modifications while managing the product management budget
  • Occasionally produce or manage product deliverables such as scope documents, workflows, wireframes, and related user stories
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Note that these requirements are representative, not all-inclusive, of the KSAs required to perform the job.

  • 10+ years of experience working in product leadership roles within software or SaaS-related products.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering market intelligence and leveraging data to make informed decisions within the product management process
  • Deep familiarity with various software development practices and Agile or SCRUM practices in particular
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and user empathy
  • Proven track record of clear communications with C-suite stakeholders and across cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • BSc/BA in information architecture, organizational management, or a related field
  • Experience in the financial services or other highly regulated industry
  • Experience developing SaaS or web-based applications
  • Fintech industry experience a plus
